Microsoft Excel Add-In

In order to access EasyXL directly from Microsoft Excel, you need to install the MS Excel EasyXL Add-In.

Please download the EasyXL Add-In and follow the installation instructions below.

Installing the EasyXL Add-In

If you already have an older version of the EasyXL Add-In installed on your computer, see Replacing an older version of the EasyXL Add-In.

MS Excel 2003

  1. Download the EasyXL Add-In file (easyXL.xla).
  2. Close all applications including EasyXL and Microsoft Excel.
  3. Create a directory called C:\EasyXL and paste the downloaded easyXL.xla file inside this directory.
  4. Open Microsoft Excel and click on Tools, then click on Add-Ins.
  5. Click on the Browse button and go to the location (c:\EasyXL) where you pasted the EasyXL file.
  6. Select the file and click OK.
  7. Close Microsoft Excel and open it again.
  8. The EasyXL menu now appears in Microsoft Excel.
  9. Click on Create Query to start EasyXL.

MS Excel 2007

  1. Download the EasyXL Add-In file (easyXL.xla).
  2. Close all applications including EasyXL and Microsoft Excel.
  3. Create a directory called C:\EasyXL and paste the downloaded easyXL.xla file inside this directory.
  4. Open Microsoft Excel and click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Excel Options.
  5. Click the Add-Ins category.
  6. In the Manage box, click Excel Add-ins, and then click Go.
  7. Click on the Browse button and go to the location C:\EasyXL, where you pasted the EasyXL file.
  8. Select the file and click OK.
  9. Close Microsoft Excel and open it again.
  10. The EasyXL menu now appears in Microsoft Excel.
  11. Click on Create Query to start EasyXL.

Enabling data connections in MS Excel 2007

Take Note: By default Microsoft Excel 2007 blocks external data connections to the Web. To enable data connections do the following.

  1. Open Microsoft Excel and click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Excel Options.
  2. Select the Trust Center category on the left, then click the Trust Center Settings button.
  3. Select the External Content category on the left, and under Security settings for Data Connections, select Enable all Data Connections, and click OK.

Replacing an older version of the EasyXL Add-In

  1. Download the Excel Add-In file (easyXL.xla).
  2. Important, close all applications including EasyXL and Microsoft Excel.
  3. Double click on My Computer.
  4. Click Search.
  5. Click All files and folders.
  6. Type in easyXL.xla and search for the file. Wait for the search to complete.
  7. The search should return 2 files, one is the old EasyXL Add-In and one is the newly downloaded EasyXL Add-In.
  8. Make sure you right click on the old file and select Open Containing Folder.
  9. Replace the old easyXL.xla file in this folder with the newly downloaded easyXL.xla file. There should now be only 1 easyXL.xla file on your computer.
  10. Open Microsoft Excel and verify that EasyXL works as always.
