Measured at a seasonally adjusted basis, the rand value of imports decreased by 2.1% month-on-month in May 2016, while the rand value of exports increased by 15.8%. The latest 12-month merchandise trade deficit amounted to R127 billion which was R40 billion less than the previous 12 months’ deficit.
