The latest 12-month merchandise trade deficit amounted to R89 billion which was R61 billion less than the previous 12 months’ deficit. Measured at a seasonally adjusted basis, the rand value of imports decreased by 0.6% month-on-month in February 2017, while the rand value of exports increased by 1.9% month-on-month.
