At a quarterly annualised rate, growth was -0.7% in the first quarter of 2017—down further on the -0.3% recorded in the final quarter of 2016, while year-on-year growth amounted to only 0.6% in the first quarter. The disconcerting aspect surrounding these numbers is that the trend, for both these measures, is decidedly down.
