The rand was again stronger against most currencies in January 2018 compared with the previous month. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to 1.1%. Month-on-month, the rand fared best against the US dollar (4.2%); Indian rupee (3.9%); and Canadian dollar (2.1%). A weaker performance was recorded against the Brazilian real (-0.3%); Swiss franc (-0.6%); and British pound (-0.8%).
