South Africa Foreign Merchandise Trade (Monthly Report) - April 2018

Over the past five years, exports had declined by an average of 1.3% per annum in dollar terms, while the equivalent growth rate for imports had amounted to -3.8% p.a. The latest 12-month merchandise trade deficit amounted to R33.3 billion which was R53 billion less than the previous 12 months’ deficit.
