The rand weakened against most currencies in April 2018 compared with the previous month. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to -2.4%. Month-on-month, the rand depreciated most against the Canadian dollar (-5.5%), US dollar (-5.1%), and yuan (-4.2%), and also against the Australian dollar (-3.2%), Swiss franc (1.4%), pound (-3.2%), euro (-3.1%) and yen (-2.3%). The rand fared best against the Russian rouble (4%) and Brazilian real (0.6%).
