Recent data hint at a recovery in mining and manufacturing production. Retail sales data for May and the consumer confidence index for the second quarter were also stronger than expected. Although these releases tempered fears of severe GDP weakness somewhat, a deeper reading of some of the numbers, reveal that upward momentum remain limited.
