The rand weakened against most major developed and emerging market currencies in March 2019 compared with the previous month. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to -3.7%. Month-on-month, the rand depreciated most against the British pound (-5.3%), Russian rouble (-4.9%), and Chinese yuan (-4.3%). The rand also weakened against the Swiss franc and US dollar (-4%), euro (-3.6%) and yen (-2.5%).
