The rand strengthened against most major developed and emerging market currencies in April 2019 compared with the previous month. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to 1.7%. Month-on-month, the rand appreciated most against the Brazilian real (2.7%), British pound (2.6%), NZ dollar (2.6%) and euro (2.1%). The rand also strengthened against the US dollar (1.4%), yen (1.5%) and Swiss franc (1.5%).
