The rand strengthened against all major developed and emerging market currencies in July 2019 compared with the previous month. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to 3.5%. Month-on-month, the rand appreciated most against the British pound real (5.4%), Japanese yen (4.4%) and euro (4.4%). The monthly change against some other currencies, were: US dollar (4%); Swiss franc (3.9%); Indian rupee (3.3%); Australian dollar (3.1%); Chinese yuan (3.1%); and New Zealand dollar (2.6%).
