With the US elections generally supporting risky assets, the rand has recently outpaced peers as the best performer among the group of major emerging market currencies. From a level of USD/ZAR16.70 in mid-October, the rand climbed to USD/ZAR16 by end October and to stronger than ZAR/USD15.35 during the past few days.
