Compared with the previous month, the rand strengthened in April 2021 against all developed market and developing market currencies. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to 4.2%. Month-on-month, the rand appreciated by 3.9% against the US dollar and by 4.2% against the British pound. It gained 3.7% against the euro and 4.6% against the Japanese yen. The rand was also 2.9% stronger against the Swiss franc and rose by 3.9% against the Chinese yuan and by 4.2% against the Australian dollar.
