Compared with the previous month, the rand weakened in July 2021 against most developed market and developing market currencies. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to 2.6%. Month-on-month, the rand appreciated by 4.2% against the US dollar, by 2.3% against the British pound, by 2% against the euro and by 4% against the Japanese yen. The rand was also weakened weaker against the Swiss franc by 3.2%, against the Chinese yuan by 3.55, and against the Australian dollar by 1.4%.
