Compared with the previous month, the rand showed, on average, little change against most of the major developed market and developing market currencies in April 2023. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to -0.1%. Month-on-month, the rand depreciated most against the Swiss Franc (-3%); Brazilian real (-3.1%); British pound (-1.9%) and euro (-1.8%). The rand was also weaker against the Canadian dollar (-0.9%). The rand was stable against the yen and gained 0.5% against the US dollar.
