Compared with the previous month, the rand was, on average, relatively stable against most of the major developed market and developing market currencies in June 2023. The unweighted average change in the value of the rand amounted to -0.1%. Month-on-month, the rand depreciated most against the Brazilian real (-3.5%); Canadian dollar (-2.4%); and British pound (-1.6%). The rand lost 1% against both the US dollar and euro. The rand gained 4.1% against the Russian rouble; 2.1% against the Swiss franc; and 1.5% against the Chinese yuan.
